To explain lessons learned outside of academia requires a face to face conversation. This post is simply representative of my academic learning. Here are a few quotations which have stood out from my tutorials this term. One can surely guess one area I studied because of the titles of the authors' work.
May these words inspire you, cause you to question, bring you a new perspective, inspire emotion, and create an appreciation for the knowledge you have and the depth of knowledge awaiting discovery. May the Lord

"A student who is trying... to learn a mature Christian approach to the world will have to take some pain, including the pain of doubt or of indecision."(Cornelius Plantinga Jr. Engaging God's World)
“Nursing, if it is to be done efficiently, requires, more than any other occupation, abundant leisure I colorful surroundings, sufficient money to spend on amusements, agreeable food to re-establish the energy expended, and the removal of anxiety about illness and old age.”(Vera Brittain, Testament of Youth)
“Loneliness is not a longing for company, it is a longing for kind. And kind means people who can see you who you are, and that means they have enough intelligence and sensitivity and patience to do that. It also means they can accept you, because we don’t see what we can’t accept, we blot it out, we jam it hastily in one stereotypic box or another. We don’t want to look at something that might shake up the mental order we’ve so carefully erected.”(Marilyn French, The Women's Room)
“War is the admission of defeat in the face of conflicting interests.”
“The essence of pleasure is spontaneity”(Germaine Greer, The Female Eunuch)
“Recycled rhetoric about female disease insults women’s healthy bodies: When a modern woman is blessed with a body that can move, run, dance, play, and bring her to orgasm; with breasts free of cancer, a healthy uterus, a life twice as long as that of the average Victorian woman, long enough to let her express her character on her face; with enough to eat and a metabolism that protects her by laying down her flesh where and when she needs it; now that hers is the gift of health and well-being beyond that which any generation of women could have hoped for before-the Age of Surgery undoes her immense good fortune. It breaks down into defective components the gift of her sentient, vital body and the individuality of her face, teaching her to experience her lifelong blessing as a lifelong curse.”(Naomi Wolf, The Beauty Myth)
"It can be fun to be exceptional-to be the loophole woman, to have a whole power thing, to be an honorary man. But if you are the exception that proves the rule, and the rule is that women are inferior, you haven’t made any progress.”(Ariel Levi, Female Chauvenist Pigs)
"Where we go in time of trial proves what the great underlying power in our lives is."(Oswald Chambers, Brilliant Heritage)
"He wants them to learn to walk and must therefore take away His hand; and if only the will to walk is really there He is pleased even with their stumbles...Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy's will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys."(CS Lewis, The Screwtape Letters)
